An Eco-village!

Greetings and welcome to my solar corner!   This is the page where I will be posting articles and information that will help us connect solar energy to the greater environmental and political issues in this country and around the globe.

Nepal - Solar-powered water pump

At present, it’s a work-in-progress because I've been so busy actually installing new solar electric systems that it's been tough to get my corner together!  However, I've posted some topics below that I'll be covering in the future.  Please contact me with any questions you'd like answered, any topics you'd like covered or just to let loose your own rants and raves.   I'd also love to post your solar pics here, so please send them on in!

Farming by solar!

In the meantime, check out this U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) article, Are We Running Our of Oil? (you’ll need Adobe Reader).   It describes what happens when demand for oil outstrips the capacity to produce it and the subsequent  consequences of a sellers’ market – and this state of affairs is only a few years away!

The USGS web site also provides great graphics and facts to support its conclusions and is a great resource site overall.

To find out what your electricity is made from see: http://www.eia.doe.gov/cneaf/electricity/epav1/epav1.pdf

and how it affects our environment, see http://www.green-e.org/your_e_choices/environment.html

Finally, here's a great "Green" dictionary compiled by Green-e, a voluntary certfication program for renewable energy products -  http://www.green-e.org/what_is/dictionary/dictionary.html
